1. Create your workspace
Start your trial with a work email, your storefront URL, and team size. TraceLayer uses this information to prepare the right monitoring baseline for your store.
2. Install the Chrome extension
- Open the secure installation link from your TraceLayer welcome email.
- Choose “Add extension” when Chrome asks you to confirm permissions.
- Pin TraceLayer beside the address bar for quick access.
3. Build your baseline
Visit your storefront and complete a normal browsing journey. TraceLayer observes expected scripts, requests, page behavior, and checkout signals so later changes can be evaluated with context.
4. Review findings
Findings identify what changed, where it occurred, likely impact, and recommended next steps. Prioritize issues that affect checkout, customer data, critical third-party scripts, or revenue-generating pages.
5. Establish a response workflow
- Assign an owner for security and revenue-impacting findings.
- Verify intentional storefront changes before dismissing an alert.
- Escalate unexpected payment, checkout, or customer-data behavior immediately.
- Use the observed evidence when coordinating with developers or vendors.
